How to arrive

ISCTE - INSTITUTO UNIVERSITÁRIO DE LISBOA

  • 732: (Marquês de Pombal – Caselas) – Stops at Avenida das Forças Armadas, right next to the ISCTE entrance.

  • 754: (Alfragide – Campo Pequeno) – Useful if you are coming from the Benfica or Alfragide areas.

  • 701: (Campo Grande – Campo de Ourique) – Stops at Entrecampos, which is a short 5-minute walk from the campus.

  • 736: (Cais do Sodré – Odivelas) – One of the most frequent lines in the city; it stops at Entrecampos.

  • 735: (Cais do Sodré – Hospital de Santa Maria) – Stops at the University Hospital, which is about an 8-minute walk to ISCTE.

By metro

Here are the best ways to get there using the Yellow Line:

  • Entrecampos Station (straightforward route):

    • Exit the station following signs for Av. das Forças Armadas or Rotunda de Entrecampos. Once outside, walk up the hill (Avenida das Forças Armadas) for about 5 minutes. The ISCTE entrance will be on your right.

 

Quick Tips

  • Interchanges:

    • If you are on the Green Line, change at Campo Grande.

    • If you are on the Red Line (coming from the Airport), change at Saldanha.

    • If you are on the Blue Line, change at Marquês de Pombal.

  • Operating Hours: from 06:30 AM to 01:00 AM.

  • Tickets: You can use a "Navegante" card or simply tap your contactless bank card, iPhone, or Apple Watch at the gates for a quick entry (one-way fare is approx. €1.80).

By car

By train

  • Via North-South Axis (Eixo Norte-Sul): Take the exit toward Sete Rios/Entrecampos. Follow signs for Avenida das Forças Armadas.

  • Via Segunda Circular: Take the exit for Campo Grande/Entrecampos. Drive down towards Entrecampos and turn right onto Avenida das Forças Armadas.

  • Via Downtown (Marquês de Pombal): Head up Avenida da República, turn left at the Entrecampos roundabout toward Avenida das Forças Armadas.

Closest airports

Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Airport - LIS)

This is the closest and most practical airport, located only about 5–7 km from ISCTE.

  • Travel time: 10–15 minutes by taxi/Uber or 20–30 minutes by public transport.

Getting to ISCTE by train is very practical because one of Lisbon's main railway hubs, Entrecampos, is located just a few minutes away on foot.

Main Train Connections

  • CP (Comboios de Portugal):

    • Sintra Line: Direct trains from Rossio, Sintra, or Oriente.

    • Azambuja Line: Connects the northern suburbs (Vila Franca de Xira, Alverca) to the city center.

    • Long Distance: Many Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains (from Porto, Coimbra, or Faro) stop at Entrecampos. If your train only stops at Oriente or Santa Apolónia, you can easily switch to a local urban train (Sintra line) to reach Entrecampos in about 10 minutes.

  • Fertagus (The "Bridge" Train):

    • If you are coming from the South Bank (Margem Sul)—Setúbal, Palmela, or Almada—take the Fertagus train and get off at Entrecampos.
